Isabel loves to write letters and lately, her writing is actually starting to make a little sense. She especially likes to write in her special writing outfit: a pink tutu over her purple pajamas.

Isabel, are you going to write us a letter?

There was a older guy at Caltech who had invented the strain gauge-- he was cheated out of the invention by Caltech and successfully sued, winning millions. However, the entire process so traumatized him that he ended up the rest of his days wandering around Caltech (they certainly couldn't stop him, as he was an alumni of some distinguishment) wearing a big pink tutu and leotards.

I don't know how this relates. Ah, yes, the tutu: versatile and charming.

Tutu-man, as he was affectionately called (when the cops weren't trying to arrest him), was one of the landmarks of Pasadena until his death several years ago. At the end he was living out his car. Still, even in his last days he was attending lectures at Caltech. Many of the faculty who suffered his pink tutu in awkward self-imposed ignorance, still recall his penetrating questions, his keen insight. He remained a scientist until the very end.

What I'm trying to say is this: I'm glad Isabel is getting over her tutu experience earlier rather than later.

Best wishes.
